Autumnal Colours

I am one of those people that is cursed by those around me, as Autumn is my favourite season. I love the changing of the seasons, where things get a wee bit more cozy, and trees turn that wonderful shade of orange. Don’t ask where I got the romanticising of dead leaves from, I just like it. The snoods are on, the slippers are own, and we survive of cups of tea. I just like it. I could do without the dark mornings, but that is it.

I think I like this time of year because I really struggle with summer. I have never done very well in the heat, so it is nice when it is over. I am a person who prefers the cooler climate, as you can always put extra layers on, but there is so many you can take off without getting in trouble. It is nice, sitting all cozy and reading a book. I always read more during the darker months, which is something that I have been struggling with over the last few months. The only issue is that the weather is doing that back and forth thing, which has left everyone I know with the cold. Yesterday, I was walking around in my t-shirt, today it is back to layering up. No ideal.

I am not the biggest fan of Halloween, pumpkin spice isn’t that great, and fireworks give me the fear. You would think I wouldn’t like this time of year. I do think that it is mostly the change in foliage that I focus on the most.

Change of the Seasons (BEDA)

Its the time of the year when the days are getting longer and its becoming a little warmer. I love the spring. I love the fact I can go out for more walks and can see everything growing again after the cold winter.

I am trying to get more healthy and I have been walking a lot more over the last few weeks. It’s a great way to de-stress, and the longer days with better weather gives me the chance to do it. The lighter days also can effect people’s mood. There has been evidence that the volume of sunlight a person sees in a day helps their mood. And with the sun making an appearance this past weekend, I can see how that is true.

I am back at work tomorrow, but am so happy and bouncy. I am ready for the warmer weather and the challenges that lie ahead. And hopefully, like the rest of the natural world, I can grow from it.

Winter Warmer

I love winter, I can honestly say it is my favourite season of the year. Something, that always gets me a lot of strange looks, because why would you like winter. I love the freshness that is in the air on an icy morning. and how breathing it can make me feel alive. It makes me appreciate living in Scotland, as I do, because I don’t have to deal with too much pollution or anything like that. It is fresh, and I am so greatful for that.

I also love the idea of coming into a warm house after being outside. I have seen myself get overwhelmed by the warmth when I open the door to get in. You have the emotional warmth of returning home, and the actual warmth compared to outside. It is nice. It is reassuring. It’s something you only get during the colder winter months.

I like winter better than other seasons because everything feels so magical. There is a lot of celebration and evaluation. It includes the one time of the year, where the focus is on family. It is a shame that that ethos is never carried through the rest of the year, when I think about it. You should take every chance to show love to those around you, and let them know how much you appreciate them.

I just adore winter, and I am glad it is here. Happy winter.
